Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) is highly expressed in the bone metastatic breast cancer environment. Treatment of mice with novel bone seeking MMP inhibitors (BMMPIs) significantly reduced tumor burden and protected against cancer induced bone loss. Cover illustrates a representative trichrome stained tibial tissue section of bone metastatic breast cancer derived from mice treated with an MMP-2 selective BMMPI. Bone (green) loss and MMP-2 activity are significantly mitigated in BMMPI treated animals. For more details see article by Tauro and colleagues on page 494.
